Kiwi-Made Dungeon Crawler Releasing Next Week

Andy from BulletProof Arcade, a micro-developer based on Auckland's Waiheke Island, dropped us a note today to let us know about the pending release of their latest game - Dungeon King: Dreadstorm Keep.

The title, which was developed using Adobe Flash, brings action RPG gameplay to your browser for an experience that Andy suggested is "a game you can play for 5 minutes on your lunch break", rather than a direct competitor to the likes of Diablo III.

Check it out:

It sports fancy dynamic level technology, which ensures the game is different every time you play it, and has various abilities and skills which you can improve by leveling up. The game was developed in under a year, by a team of just three people.

When the game launches on Monday (January 30th), it will come with a set of content called Dreadstorm Keep, with additional dungeons planned to be released episodically after that. The first dungeon packs in 12 levels, which culminate in the showdown between your character (a Barbarian) and the evil Vulkhan, whose minions have been terrorizing your native land.

The features:

• Dynamic Dungeon Levels & Enemy Variations
• Rarity-based / Magic-Infused Axes, Amulets, Rings and Belts!
• Three Upgradeable Ability Skills
• Six Upgradeable Character Skills
• Mastered Skills provide Bonus Perks

They have big plans for the game, too, with new dungeons, new characters, and multiplayer being kicked around as possible future inclusions for the title.

Dungeon King: Dreadstorm Keep is available for pre-order now (it's US$10), and a 2-level demo version will be available from Monday if you want to let it get its hooks into you before you part with the cash.

It looks reasonable. Only thing its really lacking is the magic spells. Might give this a go sometime.

Crap. Is it pc-only - I thought it would be available on consoles?
